Karen gave an account of her own remarkable journey from nurse in infectious diseases at Addenbrooke's Hospital, to ordained minister in the United Reform Church, to being received into the Catholic Church and the discovery of her own eremetic vocation as a hermit through her close association with the Carmelite nuns at Quidenham in Norfolk.
The example of the abandonment of self and making oneself available to God that Teresa has left us through her writings (The Book of My Life, The Interior Castle, The Way of Perfection) provide us not only with the most profound insight into the essence of prayer and contemplation, but also a permanent invitation to reconsider what should be at the heart of our lives.
